Psychedelics
I tend to from the outset disagree the concept of "recreational drugs"

I do not think people should treat psychedelica as a recreation
That said,
psychedelics (as distringuished from synthetic chemicals which have physiological effects, if made illegally are called drugs or legally pharmaceuticals) [natural] give the mind the option of viewing itself without the mistakes (which stem from human condition - which we try to achieve against what is impossible)
While immersed in psychedelica, one feels safe with oneself...

Do not substitute or attempt to substitute a drug or any chemical for the purpose of life {or you will ruin (temporarily) your life}

________o________
It is true however in some cases that some of these substances (not synthetics, but naturals) eg, tobacco, coffeee, tea, damiana, and also beer and possibly in fleeting amounts spirits, also herbal medicine and remedies like valerian and passiflora) it may not be the actual substance BUT the knowledge that their being consumed preserves that is IMPORTANT
It seems that beer and the like are are how we cope with not being successful... YET, whilst we strive to achieve success... Since without success we cannot attain a state of life and freedom and all life's wonder until we have attained it
Psychedelica tends to reveal a self that one is safe to be around and with and exhibit, and that one can trust

That is, it is true, that the substances, in a way so far as social memes persevere around their various availabilities, PROTECT US
Many foods Foods protect us pretty well- those which involve no loss of blood are the best (like milk products and vegetarian dishes) The ultimate state of mind is attained by the yogis and monks and other clerics who find the sublime in the solution of all life's needs without the worries, in their discipline
These typically rely on the same diet

It is clearly possible that psychedelics reveal a security of the self and social fabric integrity which cannot be provided as well without by any known human law currently ruling the country
the case for MDMA
